Dr. Sumant Kumar Swain has a background in social sciences and awarded M Phil and Ph.D from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, India. He has cleared his UGC NET. He joined as a Research Officer (2007) and Senior Research Officer (2011) at IIHMR, Delhi.During his stay at the Institute, he was engaged in more than 40 health research projects including large scale surveys such as LASI, DLHS and NFHS. Before joining IIHMR-Delhi, he has worked with NCERT, New Delhi, India. Dr. Swain has more than twelve years of experience in national health programme evaluations, operational and formative research projects using both qualitative and quantitative methods in various health and social programmes. He was a visiting scholar at the Institute of Oriental Studies under Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, Russia in different assignments under Indo-Russian Cultural Exchange Program by Indian Council for Social Science Research (ICSSR), Government of India. He has published one book, seven edited books and many research papers in different disciplines. His areas of interest are health survey research, implementation research, programme evaluation, project management, monitoring & evaluation, health system research, health governance and health security.
