Dr. Sutapa B. Neogi is a dynamic public health specialist and presently the Director of International Institute of Health Management Research (IIHMR), Delhi. She is an MBBS from Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College, Kolkata; MD in Community Medicine from Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh and Diplomate of National Board (DNB) in Maternal and Child Health. Her academic credentials made her the recipient of the prestigious Kataria Memorial Gold medal as the best outgoing student of PGIMER Chandigarh in 2001.
She has a rich experience in public health and is particularly interested in implementation of epidemiological and clinical research based projects centered around Maternal and Child health, and those with great relevance to national policies and programmes. She has authored several research papers and is a reviewer of many national and international journals. She is an associate Editor of BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth.
She offers her technical services to various academic and research bodies in the country including WHO SEARO, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Save the Children, Jhpiego, Nutrition International, Norwegian Indian Partnership Initiative (NIPI), to name a few.
Her goal is to mentor students and young professionals who can be the change agents in future; those who can see through problems- directly or indirectly impacting health, explore them scientifically, and engage in advocacy. She seeks to nurture researchers and bring people together who could be effective linkages between disciplines (e.g. engineering and medicine, social science and medicine), generate synergy between research and programs and promote interdisciplinary research in the country by leading and being a part of an able team.
